Interfaith Couples and Families
Reform Judaism welcomes and supports YOU!

Temple Anshe Sholom recognizes the diversity in our community and we welcome families in which one partner is of a faith other than Jewish. We realize that every interfaith family is unique and sometimes face issues and challenges not encountered by families of one faith.

We provide a safe and supportive Temple community in which we serve as a friendly and informative resource for interfaith families in the South suburbs of Chicago, who have been blessed by the union of different religions and cultures. We actively encourage your participation in our Temple life.

Our Interfaith Outreach Committee offers programs designed to help interfaith families learn more about Judaism, live Jewishly and make Jewish choices. In addressing interfaith issues, we offer a human perspective that embraces all faiths and seeks to provide a spiritual home for Jews and their partners of other faiths.

We invite all to participate in our programming to help build a better understanding of our similarities and a better understanding of Judaism.

Our past workshops include:
• Grandparents’ Circle - for people with interfaith grandchildren.
• “Making It Work: Tools for a Successful Interfaith Marriage” - for interfaith couples with or without children.
• “Passover Savvy” - how to prepare and lead a Seder

Call the Temple office, 708-748-6010, for more information on what Temple Anshe Sholom has to offer.

The TAS' Interfaith Outreach Committee is presently engaged in scheduling programs for 2011-2012. If there is enough interest, we can again hold our "Grandparents Circle" and our "Tools for a Successful Interfaith Marriage" workshops. New programs under consideration are: a "Shabbat Workshop" (for both interfaith and Jewish families) on how to start and/or how to increase Shabbat observance; "Ask the Rabbi" at which interfaith couples are invited to ask any and all questions; and two "Men's Circle(s)". One "circle" program is designed for Jewish men with partners of another faith and the other is for men of another faith with Jewish partners.

We welcome the input of our Temple members and invite you to share your ideas, needs and concerns. If you are interested in any of the above programs and/or want to advise us of your specific interests, please email IOC at interfaithoutreach44@gmail.com or call the Temple office at 708-748-6010
