Life Cycle

Baby and Child Namings
Children can receive a Hebrew name at any age. Rabbi Isaacs works with each family in developing a unique venue and ceremony for this joyous and spiritual time.

Consecration
New religious school students are blessed and consecrated during Simchat Torah Services.  The entire congregation rejoices with our young people by blessing them with prayer, as we celebrate the beginning of their Jewish studies.

B’nai Mitzvah
Rabbi Isaacs personally prepares each student for B’nai Mitzvah. Students learn to conduct the Shabbat Service, read or chant the Torah and Haftarah portions, and prepare a commentary called the Dvar Torah.  Each B’nai Mitzvah is a special event at Temple Anshe Sholom.

Confirmation
Tenth Graders, with Rabbi Isaacs, study texts especially prepared for them by The Union for Reform Judaism. They learn about themselves, the importance of healthy relationships, and the unique role young men and women share in building secure homes and synagogues filled with spirituality and purpose.

Marriage
Temple Anshe Sholom provides a beautiful sanctuary and reception area for couples who choose to do a traditional Jewish wedding.  Rabbi Isaacs holds intensive sessions with each couple preparing them for a marriage of compassion, patience, and mutual growth.

Funeral
Rabbi Isaacs helps families create a comforting funeral service for their loved ones followed by a day by day ritual of returning to the mitzvah of celebrating God’s gift of life. Call the Temple office to inquire about the Funeral Plans that Temple Anshe Sholom offers its membership.
